Das Album »Jolene« in der ursprünglich veröffentlichten Fassung enthielt zehn Titel, die alle von hoher Qualität waren. Zwei von ihnen wurden zu Nummer eins Country-Hits. Der erste war der Titelsong »Jolene«, der 1976 zu einem Top-Ten-Hit wurde und von vielen gecovert wurde, darunter Olivia Newton-John, später The White Stripes und in jüngster Vergangenheit BossHoss und Ilse Delange. Das andere berühmte Lied ist natürlich »I Will Always Love You«, obwohl es dauerte, bis es internationale Bekanntheit erlangte. Linda Ronstadt hat es 1975 gecovert und 1992 wurde es durch den Film »The Bodyguard« in der Version von Whitney Houston zu einem weltweiten Hit.
Dem Album wurden vier Bonustracks hinzugefügt, darunter »Cracker Jack«, ein amüsanter Song über ihren kleinen Welpen und eine weitere Version von »Barbara On Your Mind«. Die Bonustracks fehlen auf der LP-Version.
