Dieses Jahr feiern wir das 30-jährige Jubiläum von »Safe + Sound«, dem dritten Studioalbum von DJ Quik. Quik schuf einen echten G-Funk-Klassiker. Mit »The Chronic« und »Doggystyle« hatte die Welt bereits zwei große Klassiker dieses Genres erhalten, und man hätte meinen können, dass das Genre auf dem Rückzug sei. Aber Quik bewies das Gegenteil und schaffte es, dem Genre mit seinem sommerlichen Party-Sound, der Lust macht, alle Freunde einzuladen und sofort eine Grillparty zu schmeißen, seine ganz persönliche Note zu verleihen. Das Album erreichte Platz 14 der Billboard Top 200 und der Titelsong stieg in die Single-Charts ein.
