Thom Bell war zusammen mit Kenny Gamble und Leon Huff Teil der Holy Trinity Of Philly Soul. Anfang bis Mitte der 70er Jahre erreichten sie mit Platten für The Delfonics (»Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time«), Stylistics (»Betcha By Golly, Wow«) und The Detroit Spinners (»The Rubberband Man«) einen Höhepunkt. Bell war der klassisch ausgebildete Arrangeur, der die Celeste, das Waldhorn und das Cembalo in die Soulmusik einführte.
Zusammengestellt von Bob Stanley (Saint Etienne) kombiniert der Sampler einige der größten und beliebtesten 70er-Hits von Bell mit Raritäten und späten Klassikern der 80er wie »Silly« von Deniece Williams oder »Let Somebody Love You« von Phyllis Hyman.
