In 2006 Kleber Gomes aka Criolo released his first studio album "Ainda Ha Tempo" and quickly sold out the 500 copies hed had made. Although by this time hed been writing, rapping and, among other endeavours, organising hip hop parties on the Sao Paulo scene for almost 20 years (hed written his first rap when when he was only eleven years old!) this was his first album, and it turned out to be a calling card for what has become one of the most successful careers in the rich musical vein that is Brazilian hip hop. To date, Criolo has won more than 15 awards, given hundreds of shows in Brazil and his albums have been released around the world. He is noted for his expressive social criticism, and alongside recording and performing with his own projects, he has acted in feature films, performed alongside Caetano Veloso and Milton Nascimento, toured and recorded an album in tribute to Tim Maia with Ivete Sangalo, and recorded songs on albums by Ney Matogrosso, Gal Costa and Tom Ze. Criolos influences are wide and varied, not least the samba of his homeland, but as a pure hip hop album, "Ainda Ha Tempo" (Theres Still Time) has always had a special place. Thus, 10 years later in 2016, Criolo and his musical director Daniel Ganjaman, found themselves in the studio recording new versions of the songs that first launched him. A real return to his roots.
