Ein theatralischer Ansatz des Black Metal. Mit einer gruseligen und fiesen Bühnenshow veröffentlichten Cradle of Filth 1994 ihr erstes Album. »Principle of Evil Made Flesh« fand großen Anklang und wurde 2006 von Metal Hammer in die Liste der zehn besten Black-Metal-Alben der letzten zwanzig Jahre aufgenommen.
Auf dem Dynamo Festival 1997 wählten sie drei klassische Songs aus ihrem Debütalbum aus: »The Forest Whispers My Name«, »The Black Goddess Rises« und »To Eve the Art of Witchcraft«. »Dusk... and Her Embrace« folgte 1996, ein gefeiertes Durchbruchsalbum, das die Fangemeinde der Band in ganz Europa und dem Rest der Welt vergrößerte. Das neue Album von Cradle of Filth gab den Ton an für das, was noch folgen sollte. Die Produktionswerte des Albums entsprachen dem Potenzial der Band, und Danis Gesangsgymnastik war auf ihrem Höhepunkt.
