Der renommierte Film- und Fernsehkomponist John Scott schuf in den späten Siebziger- und frühen Achtzigerjahren einen nicht unbeträchtlichen Anteil der Musik in der Bruton Music Library, einem sogenannten Produktionsmusikarchiv.
Zu seinen Filmmusiken zählen »A Study in Terror« (1965), »Doomwatch« (1970-1972) und »Antony and Cleopatra« (1972). In den Sechzigerjahren war er als Altsaxofonist und Flötist einer der führenden britischen Jazz- und Studiomusiker, zu der Zeit gründete er auch das Johnny Scott Quintet.
Die beiden Alben, die hier auf einer CD erscheinen, zählen zum Besten, was er für die Bruton Music Library geschrieben hat. Scotts Partituren für Orchester und Rhythmusgruppe sind großartige Moderne, verleugnen aber nicht eine gewisse Ähnlichkeit zu seiner Filmmusik.
