Die Erfinder des Rap Metal sind wieder da! Ice-T und seine Gang sind auf ihrem 7. Studioalbum, das gleichzeitig ihr 30. Bandjubiläum zelebriert, so angepisst wie eh und je.

Carnivore, ihr zweites Album bei Century Media, ist eine logische Fortsetzung seiner beiden unbarmherzigen und von der Kritik gefeierten Vorgänger »Bloodlust« (2017) und »Manslaugther« (2014). Auch hier werden Ice-Ts wütende und sozialkritische Texte mit fetten Gitarrenriffs und Verbeugungen vor Metal- und Hardcore-Größen wie Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies und Rage Against The Machine gepaart.

Banger wie »Thee Critical Beatdown«, »The Hate Is Real« und der Titeltrack sind genau das richtige Futter für Old-School-Body Count-Fans, »Colors« ist eine mordsgute Metal-Version von ICE-Ts gleichnamigem Hit aus dem Jahr 1988. Mit Motörheads »Ace Of Spades« zollen Body Count einmal mehr ihren musikalischen Helden Tribut, während »When I’m Gone« mit Gastvocals von Amy Lee (Evanescence) aufwartet und eine neue Seite der Band aufzeigt. Weitere Gastmusiker sind u.a. Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer), Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) und Riley Gale (Power Trip).
