»Briefcase Full Of Blues« ist das Debütalbum der BLUES BROTHERS, das ursprünglich 1978 erschien.
Die BLUES BROTHERS, deren korrekte Bezeichnung THE BLUES BROTHERS SHOW BAND AND REVUE war, entstand durch die Comedians Dan Aykroyd und John Belushi als Comedy Tribute an den R&B und war ursprünglich ein Sketch in der amerikanischen Saturday Night Live Show.
Belushi (»Joliet Jake«) und Aykroyd als »Elwood Blues« führten eine Band aus bekannten Musikern an.
Kurz nach den ersten drei Auftritten wurde die Band ein Selbstläufer außerhalb des Fernsehens und veröffentlichte das Album »Briefcase Full Of Blues«, um anschließend im Kultklassiker »The Blues Brothers« auch von Hollywood geehrt zu werden.
Die Tracklist von »Briefcase Full Of Blues« beinhaltet Coverversionen von OTIS REDDING, JUNIOR WELLS, KING FLOYD und vielen mehr.
Jake und Elwood bekamen Verstärkung durch die Stax-Helden Donald »Duck« Dunn, Steve Cropper und Paul Shaffer.
Das Album erreichte Platz 1 der Billboard 200 und wurde mit zweifachem Platin ausgezeichnet.
»Rubber Biscuit« als Single erreichte Platz 37 der Billboard Hot 100, während »Soul Man« Platz 14 für sich beanspruchte.
