The Blu-Ray was developed as a high-definition successor to the DVD and offers a significantly increased data rate and storage capacity compared to its predecessor. Blu-Rays can therefore store movies with significantly better resolution and offer enormously high picture quality on corresponding screens. Blu-Ray players are usually backward compatible with DVDs, so that they can also be played.

Die Film-Dokumentation »Biophilia Live« ist für alle Björk-Fans und Kunst-Gourmets ein üppiger Nachtisch nach dem mehrgängigen multimedialen Menü, das die isländische Ausnahmekünstlerin unter dem Titel »Biophilia« rund um ihr siebtes Album auftischte. Darin verbindet sie Wissenschaft mit Emotion, Musik erklärt Natur, Natur trifft Technologie, oder anders gesagt: 90 Minuten kann man über diese Symbiosen aus Herz- und Kopf-Kunst-Arbeit staunen.
Die bisher aufwändigste Platte von Björk ist mit Hilfe unzähliger Wissenschaftler, Autoren, Entwickler, Kameraleute, Produzenten und anderer Kollaborateure im sehr intimen Rahmen des Londoner Alexandra Palace live aufgenommen worden. Regie führten Nick Fenton und Peter Strickland, und produziert wurde das Werk von Jacqueline Edenbrow von Gloria Films.
Ein auditives Spektakel, dem jetzt mit der Dokumentation der 2013er Live-Performance des kompletten Albums in London endlich der audiovisuelle Abschluss folgt.

On 24th November the critically acclaimed documentary film which captures the multidimensional concert centered on Björk's eighth studio album titled, »Biophilia Live« will be released on audio-visual formats internationally via One Little Indian. The DVD and Blu-ray release also come with extra content filmed during Biophilia's residency at Japans Miraikan Museum.
The film documents the intimate Biophilia performance at London's Alexandra Palace where Björk was accompanied by unique musical instruments, collaborators and visuals. Shot by directors Nick Fenton and Peter Strickland and produced by Jacqueline Edenbrow/Gloria Films, the film also features science and nature archive and found footage inspired by the themes of the album, as well as animation which has been augmented with the music of Biophilia.
The infinitely creative journey presents a culmination of work that represents one of the most original musical endeavours of a generation.
