Nach rund 32 Jahren erscheint nun endlich mit »Live At Yankee Stadium – June 22 & 23, 1990« der ultimative Mitschnitt von Billy Joels zwei legendären Konzerten in seiner Heimatstadt New York.
Der »Piano Man« und seine Band waren die ersten Popstars, denen es erlaubt wurde, im altehrwürdigen Yankee Stadium aufzutreten, ganze 67 Jahre nach Eröffnung der Spielstätte. Eine große Ehre für den in der Bronx geborenen Joel. An zwei Abenden im heißen Juni 1990 war es dann so weit. Billy Joel und seine Band waren bestens aufgelegt und die Fans konnten es kaum erwarten. »Storm Front«, das Album zur Tour, war gerade ein halbes Jahr alt und enthielt mit »We Didn’t Start The Fire«, »I Go To Extremes« und »Leningrad« einige der größten Hits des Popstars.
»Live At Yankee Stadium – June 22 & 23, 1990« vereint nun 22 Aufnahmen von beiden Abenden und enthält natürlich eine Best-of-Auswahl von Billy Joels größten Hits. Die Songs wurden alle von den Original-Mehrspurbändern neu abgemischt und die Hälfte der Stücke waren bis jetzt gänzlich unveröffentlicht. Darunter die mitreißenden Versionen von »Uptown Girl«, »Only The Good Die Young« und »Allentown«.
1991 wurde der Konzertfilm bei den Grammys in der Kategorie »Best Music Video Longform« nominiert und der amerikanische Rolling Stone führte ihn auf Platz 8 der besten Live-DVDs aller Zeiten.
Jetzt ist Billy Joels »Live At Yankee Stadium – June 22 & 23, 1990« endlich in voller Länge und sorgfältig neu abgemischt zu bekommen. Entweder auf 3 LPs oder als Doppel-CD inkl. Blu-ray Disc.
