»Die beste Nachricht zuerst: Helmuth ist zurück von den Toten. Nachdem ein lebensbedrohlicher Virus den Frontmann 2011 fast hinweggerafft hat, sah es finster aus für das österreichische Abrisskommando. Umso erfreulicher jetzt das neue Album. Denn wer glaubt, dass Helmuth mit »Conjuring The Dead« auf die Bremse tritt, wird zumindest musikalisch eines Besseren belehrt. (...) Niemals klang der Frontmann giftiger als beim Titelstück.

Wenn dann doch mal eine Akustikgitarre erklingt (›Rex Tremendae Majestis‹), folgt sofort die Peitsche – oder, wie im Fall von ›Black Winged Torment‹, eine Hymne (kann man von Hit sprechen?), zementiert mit Granatsplittern. Als letztes i-Tüpfelchen sei zu vermelden, dass sich Helmuth den typischen ›Titten, Tod, Teufel‹-Humor nicht hat nehmen lassen (›Lucifer, Take Her!‹). Die härteste Lederpeitsche der Belphegor-Geschichte! Willkommen zurück!« (METAL HAMMER)
