Nach »The Final Experiment« und »Actual Fantasy (Revisited)« ist es Zeit für Teil 3 der Ayreon-on-Vinyl-Saga. Original-Vinyl-Kopien von »Into The Electric Castle« sind auf den Börsen nur für ein kleines Vermögen zu finden, und es ist bei weitem einer der meistgesuchten Titel auf Vinyl. Zufälligerweise ist es auch der 20. Jahrestag seit der ersten Veröffentlichung.
Arjen sagt: »Obwohl mein erstes Ayreon-Album ›The Final Experiment‹ 1995 ein (unerwarteter) Erfolg war, wurde mein zweites Album ›Actual Fantasy‹ nicht mit der gleichen Begeisterung aufgenommen. Also musste ich sicherstellen, das meine dritte Veröffentlichung absolut überwältigend wird. Es wäre sonst das Ende von Ayreon gewesen.«
Nun jährt sich die Veröffentlichung von »Into The Electric Castle« nun schon zum 20ten Mal. Und nach wie vor gilt dieses Doppel-Album als Ayreons Meisterwerk. Als Gäste waren damals unter anderem Fish, Sharon den Adel, Anneke van Giersbergen, Damian Wilson, Thijs van Leer, Ton Scherpenzeel, Ed Warby, Clive Nolan und viele andere mit von der Partie. Für die 20th Anniversary Edition wurde das komplette Album re-mixed. Lucassen macht es ganz deutlich, dass es sich hier um einen Re-mix und nicht um eine Remastered Version handelt. Er sagt: »Remastering dauert 2 Stunden, für den Remix des kompletten Albums brauchte er ganze 2 Monate!«
