Karl Wallinger gründete die Band 1986 in London, nachdem er die Waterboys verlassen hatte. Nach und nach werden kleine limitierte Auflagen der World-Party-Alben (insgesamt 5) auf weißem Vinyl gepresst folgen, und als »The White Albums« vermarktet werden. Eine Anspielung auf Karl Wallingers bislang ungehörte Neuaufnahmen von Beatles Songs.
