WhoCares (Ian Gillan & Tony Iommi): The Compilation on 2 CDs

WhoCares. Who wer? Hinter dem Projekt verbirgt sich niemand Geringeres als der legendäre Deep Purple-Sänger Ian Gillan sowie Black Sabbath-Gitarrengott Tony Iommi. Im Mai 2011 setzte das Duo seine Zusammenarbeit, die bereits 1983 mit dem Black Sabbath-Album „Born Again“ begann, zur Freude aller Rock- und Metal-Fans fort.

Entstanden ist die großartige 2-Track-Debütsingle „Out Of My Mind / Holy Water“, deren weltweit auf 1.000 Stück limitierte Vinyl-Edition sofort vergriffen war. Und auch die weitere Besetzung von WhoCares lässt Kenner jubeln: Jon Lord am Keyboard, Iron Maidens Drummer Nico McBrain, Ex-Metallica-Bassist Jason Newsted und HIM-Gitarrist Mikko Lindström!

WhoCares verschreibt sich dem karitativen Zweck und unterstützt insbesondere den Wiederaufbau einer Musikschule in Gjumri, Armenien. Nach dem furchtbaren Erdbeben 1988 verbrachten sowohl Gillan als auch Iommi viel Zeit in dem gebeutelten Land (u. a. im Rahmen von Rock Aid Armenia) und fördern den Wiederaufbau in der krisengeschüttelten Nation.

Auch „The Compilation“ hat sich das Ziel gesetzt, die Musikschulen in Armenien zu unterstützen. Die Top-Compilation enthält, neben „Out Of My Mind“ und „Holy Water“, exklusive Raritäten von Deep Purple/ Ian Gillan und Black Sabbath / Tony Iommi. Seltene B-Seiten, kaum gehörte Bonus- Tracks, Demo-Versionen, beeindruckende Liveaufnahmen und bisher unveröffentlichte Songs kommen hier unter dem Dach von WhoCares zusammen.

Ian Gillan and Tony Iommi took everybody by surprise in 2011 by releasing a charity single: “Out Of My Mind”, renewing the collaboration that led the pair recording the Black Sabbath album “Born Again” in 1984. None other than Jason Newsted (Metallica), Jon Lord, Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) and Linde Lindström (HIM) supported the two rock legends. Not only jamming together for the shear fun of things, this new project has united for a cause - rebuilding and helping the music school in Gyumari, Armenia. The single was a joyful and inspired moment. Iommi and Gillan have now decided to make WhoCares an album for their devoted fans. Classic songs and a lot of rarities and unreleased material in 2CDs of fantastic rare music.

This is much more than a Gillan solo album or a Deep Purple anthology – this is a real collector’s item and must have for every Ian Gillan and Tony Iommi fan.
