Auf dieser neuen Platte sind Crutchfields Songs weiterhin von ihrem scharfen Songwriting geprägt, ihre markante Stimme und ihre Texte, die gleichzeitig sehr persönlich und nachvollziehbar wirken, schwanken zwischen liebenswert nostalgisch und deprimierend dunkel.
Manchmal ist »Cerulean Salt« dem Sound von PS Eliot näher: stimmungsvoller, 90er-Jahre-inspirierter Rock, unterstützt von Keith Spencer und Swearin' Gitarrist Kyle Gilbride an Schlagzeug und Bass. Große verzerrte Gitarren und tiefe Drums markieren Songs wie »Misery over Dispute« und »Waiting«.
