Die belgische Band Vaya Con Dios wurde 1986 von der Sängerin Dani Klein und dem Gitarristen Willy Lambregt gegründet. Zusammen mit dem Kontrabassisten Dirk Schoufs entwickelten sie ihre von spanischen Rhythmen und Soul beeinflussten Songs. Bereits die erste Single „Just A Friend Of Mine“ verkaufte sich mehr als 300.000mal. International bekannt wurden das Trio nach Veröffentlichung des ersten Albums „Vaya Con Dios“ (1988), auf dem die Hits „Puerto Rico“ und „Don’t Cry For Louie“ enthalten sind.
