Das Gone Label war eines von vielen, das von George Goldner gegründet wurde. Er war einer der einflussreichsten Entrepreneurs des ‘Rock & Roll’s, ein begnadeter Mambo-Tänzer und der Erfinder des $100 Handshakes.
Gone Records war Heimat für Stars, die ihren Höhepunkt schon überschritten hatten (Bill Haley and His Comets), aber auch für Stars, die auf dem Weg dorthin waren (The Isley Brothers). Eine der Hitzeilen aus einem Musical über Goldners Leben lautet: ‘The mind of Einstein, the ears of a teenager’. George Goldner gewann zwar nicht den Nobel Preis, aber er setzte unzweifelhaft Akzente in der Popmusik der 50er und 60er Jahre.
