Es war im Herbst 1969, als Van Morrison ins Studio ging, um jenes Album aufzunehmen, das zu seinem Durchbruch und einem der meistgeliebten Alben aller Zeiten wurde: Moondance.
Moondance erschien im Februar 1970 und wurde von der RIAA mit dreifachem US-Platin ausgezeichnet. 1999 wurde es in die Grammy Hall Of Fame aufgenommen und 2003 vom Rolling Stone auf Position 65 in die Liste »500 Greatest Albums of All Time« geführt.
