Tony Joe White war ein einflussreicher Musiker in der Swamp-Rock-Szene der 60er und 70er Jahre. Als einer der Schöpfer dieses Sounds nahm er verschiedene Hits wie Rainy Night In Georgia und Polk Salad Annie auf. Das Collected-Set umfasst seine Musik von den 60ern bis zu den 00ern, einschließlich bekannter Duette mit verschiedenen Künstlern.
Nachdem White 1967 seinen ersten Vertrag unterschrieben hatte, nahm er zunächst mehrere Singles ohne größeren Erfolg auf. 1969 wurde Polk Salad Annie in den USA veröffentlicht und erreichte Chartplatz 8.
In den späten 60er und frühen 70er Jahren nahm er mehrere Alben auf. Als er populärer wurde, begannen andere Musiker, seine Songs zu veröffentlichen, so interpretierten Dusty Springfield Willie and Laura Mae Jones und Brook Benton Rainy Night in Georgia auf ihre Art und Weise neu.
Beide Coverversionen erreichten die US-Charts und machten ihn zu einem bekannten Künstler. In den 90er und 00er Jahren nahm er weitere Alben und Singles auf, darunter auch viele Klassiker.
