Sweet Soul Musik

Als Soulfan habe ich so einiges in meiner Sammlung. Unter anderem Boxsets wie "Atlantic Rhythm & Blues 1947 - 1974 und "Chess Blues".
Ein Highlight für Soulmusik ist aus meiner Sicht die von Bear Family Records heraus gegebene Serie "Sweet Soul Musik", die für die Jahre von 1961 bis 1970 jeweils ein Album (CD) umfasst.
Die Serie beginnt mit dem 31 Titel umfassenden Album für 1961, das ich Ihnen ebenfalls nur wärmstens empfehlen kann.
Das Album für 1962 hat wie das Album für 1961 eine Laufzeit von 79 (!) Minuten. 79 Minten, in denen nie Langeweile auftaucht, was sicherlich nicht selbstverständlich ist.
Los gehts mit "I Know" mit Barbara George und der A.F.O. Studio Combo, gefolgt von "Letter Full Of Tears" mit Gladys Knight & The Pips. Die Sensations singen "Let Me In" und Gene Chandler singt vom Duke Of Earl. Solomon Burke trägt das auch von den Rolling Stones spägter gesungene "Cry To Me" vor. Es folgen Toptitel von Topinterpreten wie Etta James, den Falcons, King Curtis, Clyde McPhatter, den Shirelles, den Marvelettes, den Drifters, Marvin Gaye und und und.
Auch bei dieser CD kann ich mich so richtig in Begeisterung hineinsteigern. Aber auch hier ist dies ist bei diesen Titeln und dem Klang gar nicht anders möglich.
Das 72seitige Beiheft ist mit Worten der Drifters aus dem Titel "Some Kind Of Wonderful" aus der CD für 1961 ebenfalls "Wonderful" und stellt jeden Titel mit seinem Interpreten auf mindestens einer Seite vor. Fotos finden sie dazu ebenfalls. Wenn die Texte in dem Beiheft nicht nur in englischer Sprache wären, wäre dieses perfekt.
Alles in Allem gibt es für mich auch bei diesem Album keine andere Wahl für die Gesamtbewertung als "fünf Sterne".
Auch wenn das Album nicht gerade billig ist. Es ist jeden einzelnen Cent wert!
