Noel McLoughlin wurde 1955 in Limerick geboren. In seinem Gesang wurde er von der irischen Gruppe The Johnstons aus den 60er Jahren beeinflusst, instrumental von Gruppen wie Planxty, De Dannan, The Dubliners und The Furey Brothers. In den 70er Jahren war er bei mehreren irischen Folkbands, darunter Cromlach und Celtic Tradition, mit denen er 1984 erstmals Aufnahmen machte.
Danach konzentrierte er sich hauptsächlich auf Auftritte als Solist und hat seit 1989 zahlreiche Alben mit den beliebtesten irischen und schottischen Liedern und Balladen aufgenommen. Hier singt und spielt er Gitarre, Banjo, Mandola, Waldzither, Bouzouki und Bodhrans.
