Schon als Junge von zwölf Jahren trat er als Sänger auf. 1956 finanzierte sein Vater die erste Schallplatte („I Confess“ auf dem Label von RPM 472). Im Jahr 1957 begann er seine Weltkarriere mit Dutzenden selbstgeschriebener Songs.
Zwischen 1957 und 1983 war Anka mit 53 Titeln in den amerikanischen Pop-Charts erfolgreich. Aber nicht nur als Sänger sondern auch als Komponist und Texter für große Stars war er ein Begriff: Frank Sinatra: „My Way“ oder „She´s A Lady“ für Tom Jones sind die herausragenden Titel aus seiner Feder.
Wie viele andere ausländische Stars sang auch Paul Anka etliche Titel in deutscher Sprache. 1964 / 1965 war er mit vier dieser Songs in den deutschen Verkaufs-Charts zu finden.
Über Jahre hinweg garantierte Paul Anka in Las Vegas volle Häuser und er ist heute immer noch aktiv.
