Nicht Fisch, nicht Fleisch

Das ist es also, das Solo-Album von Oasis Mastermind Noel Gallagher. Wer auf eine Fortsetzung von Definitely Maybe oder What's the Story... gehofft hatte, wird enttäuscht sein. Das Debüt des Gitarristen und Songwriters der wichtigsten Britpop-Band der 1990er Jahre offenbart, was zu befürchten war: Der (schleichende) Niedergang von Oasis kam nicht zufällig. Die ganz großen Songs hat der Mann aus Manchester einfach nicht mehr im Köcher.

Der grosse Bruder schlägt zurück

Nach dem Oasis-Split hatte der kleine Liam Gallagher die Nase vorn - zumindest was die Veröffentlichung des ersten neuen Materials betraf. Doch vergesst das Beady Eye-Album - hier kommt das Oasis-Mastermind mit seinem Solo-Projekt. Und wie schon die erste Single The Death of You and Me vermuten ließ, ist der König des BritPops zurück, um wieder auf den Charts-Thron zu steigen. Weitere Songperlen wie What A Life! oder If I Had A Gun veredeln diese Album - nur das sagenumwobene Stop The Clocks am Ende fällt etwas ab - doch wie heißt es so schön: Don't Look Back In Anger!

Das Album des Jahres!

Noel Gallagher kann tatsächlich Singen. Dass er ein hervorragender Songwriter ist, sollte außer Frage sein.
Dieses Solo-Album des ehemaligen Oasis Songwriters und Gitarristen ist wundervoll: Zum Himmel jauchzende Melodien und Arrangements, intelligente Texte und alles mit einem noch immer jugendlichen "Push"! Die Produktion ist sehr gut, das Klanbild ausgesprochen sauber aufgenommen.
Ich liebe Oasis, finde die Scheibe von Beady Eye auch gut, aber das hier ist "The Soul and Heart" von Oasis.
