The story behind it goes back to Momus' "Little Red Songbook" album which contained a track about one of the pioneers of electronic music. The composer objected to the song and the result was a hefty legal fee for Momus' US label. To pay off the debt Momus decided to sell musical portraits for $1000 a song. The first 30 people whose cheques cleared became the subjects of songs on "Stars Forever".
