REDISCOVERED is a retrospective of the great Mississippi bluesman, John Hurt.
Hurt had recorded for Okeh in the 20s and went into retirement until the 60s, when two blues musicians hunted him down and urged him to perform again. Between 1963 and 1966 (when he died), Hurt was a big success on the folk / blues scene.
These recordings were drawn from his four Vanguard albums which are commonly regarded as his best work. The tracks here have been restored to their original condition and are a fitting tribute to one of the giants of country blues
