Memphis Minnie zählte zu den ersten weiblichen Musikerinnen, die eine elektrische Gitarre verwendeten. Sie trat zu einer Zeit auf, als die Musiker den Blues noch als reine Männersache ansahen. Heute zählt Memphis Minnie zu den Legenden des Blues - unzählige Künstler u. a. Led Zeppelins legendäres Cover von "When The Levee Breaks" oder auch Bob Dylan wurden von Memphis Minnie inspiriert.
