Madness: Keep Moving (Deluxe Edition) on 2 CDs

»Keep Moving« ist das fünfte Studioalbum von Madness. Es wurde ursprünglich im Februar 1984 veröffentlicht und war ihr letztes Album auf dem Stiff-Label in der Originalbesetzung, bevor Keyboarder Mike Barsont eine vorübergehende Auszeit von der Gruppe nahm und erst 1992 zur Madstock-Reunion und 1999 zur Band zurückkehrte. Das Album erreichte Platz 6 der UK-Album-Charts und enthält den Fan-Favoriten »Victoria Gardens« sowie die Singles »Michael Caine« und »One Better Day«, die beide die Top 20 der UK-Singles-Charts erreichten.

Diese erweiterte Ausgabe enthält außerdem 13 Bonustracks, darunter die eigenständigen Singles »Wings Of A Dove« und »The Sun And The Rain« sowie B-Seiten und alternative Mixe. In den exklusiven Liner Notes finden sich ausführliche Interviews mit den Bandmitgliedern Lee 'Kix Thompson, Mike Barson, Suggs McPherson, Mark Bedford, Cathal »Chas Smash« Smyth und Chrissyboy Foreman über ihre Erinnerungen an die Entstehung der Platte.

Union Square Music’s 30th Anniversary Madness reissue campaign continues with Keep Moving, the band’s fifth – and possibly most mature – album.

Its release, in 1984, was tinged with sadness, as it would be the band’s last offering with the original line-up until 1999’s ‘Wonderful’ comeback. That said, the album and the songs on it did not suffer and some consider ‘Keep Moving’ to be Madness’s most sophisticated album, dealing with issues of homelessness, politics and spousal abuse in typically sensitive fashion.

The original album features the hit singles ‘Michael Caine’ (which few knew at the time to be about the plight of IRA informants) and the fantastically melancholy ‘One Better Day’. The bonus tracks include some of Madness’s best-loved songs: ‘Wings Of A Dove’ and ‘The Sun And The Rain’ proving that Madness, at this point in their career, were just as life-affirming as they ever were.
