1973 nahm Lou Reed sein "Berlin"-Album auf. Es wurde ein kommerzieller Flop, live waren die Songs des Albums mehr als 30 Jahre nicht zu hören. Lou Reed ging dieses Wagnis erst im Dezember 2006 ein. Damals trat er mit fulminanten Musikern und Gastsängern (u. a. Fernando Saunders, Antony, Steve Hunter, Rob Wassermann, Rupert Christie, Sharon Jones, Jane Scarpantoni, The Brooklyn Youth Choir) fünf Nächte hintereinander im ausverkauften St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn auf und brachte sein "Berlin" erstmals live zur Aufführung.
