Eine Ausgabe des deutschen Magazins "Stern", Mitte der 70er Jahre, auf dem Cover, young and sweet: LINDA RONSTADT, als Vertreterin des kalifornischen Laid Back-Rock-Sounds jener Tage. Sie startete Anfang 1967 in Los Angeles mit dem folkigen Trio Stone Poneys, das binnen eines Jahres 3 Alben und einen Top 20-Hit ("Different Drum") vorlegte. Ihre Stimme (und sicher auch ihre optische Erscheinung) brachte(n) ihr einen Solo-Deal mit Capitol Records ein. Im Laufe von 4 Longplayern entwickelte sie sich vom Country-Folkie zur hoch gehandelten Pop-Interpretin amerikanischer Songschreiber-Kunst, samt Nr. 1-Album ("Heart Like A Wheel"). Wobei sie natürlich auch voll auf ihre Country- und Folk-Wurzeln baute, man höre nur die verschiedenen Coverversionen von Bob Dylan, Patsy Cline oder Little Feat. Schließlich reüssierte sie ja auch in den 80ern im Trio mit Emmylou Harris und Dolly Parton höchst erfolgreich.
Die neue digital remasterte Doppel-CD-Compilation umfasst komplett ihre vier zwischen April 1969 und Ende 1974 veröffentlichten Capitol-Alben "Hand Sown…Home Grown", "Silk Purse", "Linda Ronstadt" und "Heart Like A Wheel". Beim 3. Album wie auch auf den beiden raren Live-Bonus Tracks bildeten übrigens die späteren Eagles die backing band. 3 weitere Bonus-Titel und ein 12-seitiges Booklet mit informativen Liner Notes und einigen wunderhübschen Fotos runden diese feine Package ab.
