James Taylor hatte gerade auf dem von den Beatles aus der Taufe gehobenen Label Apple Records sein Debütalbum herausgebracht und Carole King, die zuvor nur Hits für andere Künstler geschrieben hatte, war dabei, ihre eigene Plattenkarriere zu starten.
Im November 2007, 36 Jahre nach dem ersten Troubadour-Auftritt, trafen sich die beiden wie guter Wein gereiften Stars mit den Mitgliedern ihrer alten Band The Section (feat. Gitarrist Danny Kortchmar, Bassist Leland Sklar und Drummer Russell Kunkel) noch einmal im Troubadour, um zum 50. Geburtstag des Clubs aufzuspielen.
1970 traten die beiden Legenden erstmals zusammen im Troubadour in West Hollywood auf. Als sie im nächsten Jahr an selber Stelle ein zweiwöchiges Engagement absolvierten, stand Taylor mit seinem Album »Fire And Rain« an der Spitze der Charts und King war ebenfalls auf bestem Wege, ein Superstar zu werden.
