Over 30 years after her death, Gracie Fields remains one of the true enduring icons of British popular entertainment. This great value 4CD collection has been compiled specifically to offer collectors and fans a selection not only of classic material which is at the core of her repertoire but a significant number of rare recordings, many of them never previously commercially released. Many of these are included among the 30 or so performances taken from radio and TV broadcasts featured here, notably several selections from her 1947 series “Gracie’s Working Party”, and several from overseas. This is very much not just another Gracie Fields compilation – it has been put together by experts with access to genuinely rare collector’s items, and designed to give Gracie fans something new and unique. The recordings are presented chronologically, and capture the essence of Gracie’s unique talent as a ‘live’ performer on stage and on radio and TV, as well as hugely successful recording artist and movie star – truly the Real Gracie.
