Camelot war Frederick Loewes Nachfolgestück zu "My Fair Lady" und basiert auf T. H. Whites Roman "Der König Camelot". Am Broadway war es 1960 mit Stars wie Richard Button als Arthur, Julie Andrews als Guinevere und Robert Goulet als Knecht Lancelot zu sehen. Goulet eroberte mit dem Hit "If Ever I Would Leave You" die Herzen der Zuschauerinnen und das Album zum Musical blieb ganze 60 Wochen in den US-Pop-Charts.
