Eine der wichtigsten Gruppen der Gothic-Rock-Bewegung ist die 1983 gegründete Band Fields Of The Nephilim. Benannt nach dem biblischen Riesenwesen Nephilim, trat die Gruppe um Sänger Carl McCoy im Stile der Sisters Of Mercy im postapokalyptischen Italowestern-Outfit auf.
Ihre Musik ist deutlich mehr vom Hardrock, Metal und Psychedelic-Rock geprägt und beeinflusste sogar viele Death-Metal-Bands. Die Texte sind von magischen und okkulten Themen bestimmt, was die Fields Of The Nephilim zu Kultfiguren in der Dark-Wave- und Gothic-Szene macht.
Das "5 Albums Box Set" enthält die ersten vier Alben der Engländer: "Dawnrazor" (1987), "The Nephilim" (1988), "Elysium" (1990), das Livealbum "Earth Inferno" (1991) sowie die extra für dieses Set aufgelegte Compilation mit "Singles & Mixes", von denen einige das erste Mal auf CD vorliegen.
