Ensiferum (lateinisch für "schwerttragend") aus Finnland wurden 1995 gegründet. In seiner Heimat zählt das Folk-Metal-Quintett zu den ganz großen Abräumern. Die deutschen Fans kennen die Burschen von den Metal-Festivals Wacken und Earthshaker. Mit der CD "Victory Songs" erschien 2007 das erste Longplay der Formation. Die Musik entzieht sich jeder Beschreibung: Kritiker sprechen von „melodischem Death / Black Metal“ und „Verschmelzung von extremem Metal, Folkmelodien und traditionellem Metal“. Das muss man sich einfach mal selbst anhören - auf geht's!
