At the time of Salome's recording, the synthesizer revolution of the 80's was well under way. Bronski Beat and Marc Almond were feeling love, Tears For Fears wanted to rule the world; The Enid wanted to explore the sexual tension betwixt John the Baptist and biblical temptress Salome using the power of ballet. They achieved their goal; to the extent that Salome was performed at the Hammersmith Odeon. A departure from their original, orchestrated, symphonic rock movements, Salome features a pared down version of the band featuring only Godfrey, Stewart, Storey and North. The darkly emotive tension pervades the whole recording, an apt reflection of The Enids' mood at the time perchance? Available now on Inner Sanctum Recordings, we have included a bonus track taken from a very special vinyl released that year. Liverpool was pressed for the audience of an Enid show and features a recording of Nimrod. To this date it is the only known live recording of this fantastic track.
