Auf „Colfax“ schlägt das Landstreicherherz eines Tom Waits, der abgebrühte Weltschmerz einer frühen Rickie Lee Jones und der coole, Laid-back-Sound von Mazzy Star. Und manchmal klingt die Platte einfach nur wie eine etwas mitgenommene Dusty Springfield nach zu vielen Nächten in einer schrägen Bar.
Hinter der Band aus Portland, Oregon, stehen Sängerin Amy Boone (The Damnations TX), Keyboarderin Jenny Conlee (The Decemberists), Sean Oldham, der Songwriter und Schriftsteller Willy Vlautin (Richmond Fontaine) sowie Tucker Jackson (Minus 5) an der Pedal-Steel.
