Im Laufe der Jahre hat fast jeder bedeutende Künstler eine Zusammenstellung seiner Lieblingsweihnachtssongs aufgenommen. So nahmen auch Canned Heat im Jahr 2006 mit ihrem alten Freund Jay Spell einige Interpretationen traditioneller Weihnachtslieder auf, um sie mit älteren Aufnahmen ihrer eigenen Weihnachtslieder zu kombinieren.

Daher befinden sich auf dem »Christmas Album« neben Stücken wie »Jingle Bells« und »Santa Claus Is Coming To Town« auch eigene Songs wie das 1968 entstandene »Christmas Boogie« mit den Chipmunks und »Christmas Blues«, der noch in zwei weiteren Versionen mit Mac Rebennack alias »Dr. John«, Eric Clapton und John Popper aufgenommen wurde.
