"Soup" ist das zweite Studioalbum von Blind Melon, das acht Wochen vor der tödlichen Drogenüberdosis von Sänger Shannon Hoon veröffentlicht wurde. Das Album erwies sich als eine herausfordernde, packende Platte, die genauso stark und vielleicht sogar noch lohnender ist als ihr Debütalbum. "2 X 4" handelt von Hoons Erfahrungen in einer Drogenentzugsanstalt, "Galaxie" handelt von Hoons Erfahrungen mit seinem Auto, einem Ford Galaxie von 1964, und "Skinned" handelt vom Serienmörder Ed Gein. Der Produzent des Albums, Andy Wallace, ist auf dem Cover zu sehen, wie er eine Suppe schlürft.
Im Jahr 2005 wurde "Soup" auf Platz 357 in der Liste der 500 größten Rock- und Metal-Alben aller Zeiten des Rock Hard Magazins aufgeführt.
