Nachdem PolitPopster Billy Bragg 1996 mit "William Bloke" ein überraschendes und fulminantes Comeback gelungen war, sprudelt es ein Jahr später auf dem Nachfolger "Bloke On Bloke" förmlich aus ihm heraus (ob es am damaligen Wahlsieg von Tony Blairs streitbarer New Labour lag?). Die Platte jedenfalls enthält neben der Singleauskopplung "The Boy Done Good" das Ergebnis einer erneuten Zusammenarbeit mit ExSmiths Gitarrist Johnny Marr sechs weitere unveröffentlichte bzw. rare Tracks, darunter u. a. die Polit-FolkHymne "Thatcherites" sowie die wundervoll soulige Version von "Never Had No One Ever".
