The Bar-Kays waren eine der wichtigsten Bands innerhalb der Southern Funk-Bewegung, darüber hinaus begleiteten sie Stax-Superstar Otis Redding als Live-Band auf seinen vielen Tourneen. Bei einem Flugzeugabsturz im Jahr 1967 starben jedoch mehrere Bandmitglieder auf tragische Weise. Die beiden verbliebenen Mitglieder Ben Cauley und James Alexander machten mit Hilfe von Musikern wie Allen Jones weiter.
Die hier vorliegende Veröffentlichung vereint die beiden Bar-Kays-Klassiker "Light Of Life" (1978) und "Injoy" (1979) auf einer CD. Inklusive der Hits "Shine", "I'll Dance", "Move Your Boogie Body" und "Today Is The Day".
