Hailed as a masterpiece from the 70s hard rock era, Armageddon was the brainchild of singer and blues harmonica player Keith Relf, the founder of The Yardbirds, Renaissance and Medicine Head. In 1973 Relf teamed up with bass player Louis Cennamo and ex-Steamhammer guitarist Martin Pugh. American drummer Bobby Caldwell joined during a trip to Hollywood. The story of Armageddon is told in an exclusive interview with Louis Cennamo for the CD notes. Five extended tracks explore a range of dynamic sounds. Caldwell’s driving drums gives extra strength to such far out works as ‘Paths And Planes And Future Gains’ and the fourpart ‘Basking In the White Of The Midnight Sun’. Keith’s esoteric lyrics to ‘Buzzard’, ‘Silver Tightrope’ and ‘Last Stand Before’ are backed by fine guitar work from Martin Pugh, while Cennamo creates unusual sounds with his bowed electric bass guitar.
