Als Angst einflößende Dinge in ihrem Haus geschehen, entdeckt das junge Paar Kelly (Ashley Greene) und Ben (Sebastian Stan), dass es von einer Erscheinung heimgesucht wird, die während eines parapsychologischen Uni-Experiments unabsichtlich heraufbeschworen wurde. Die Schrecken erregende Erscheinung weidet sich an der Angst und den Qualen der beiden - wohin auch immer sie versuchen zu entkommen. Ihre letzte Hoffnung ist ein Experte für Übernatürliches (Tom Felton), aber selbst mit seiner Hilfe könnte es schon zu spät sein, sich vor der furchtbaren Macht - und dem sicheren Tod - zu retten.
Die Musik zum Nerven kitzelnden Horrorfilm stammt vom erfolgreichen Komponisten-Duo tomandandy (u. a. "The Rules Of Attraction", "The Mothman Prophecies", "The Hills Have Eyes"…).
Mit ihrem hypermodernen, pulsierenden, kraftvollen und unbarmherzig krachigen Score, der an Industrialbands und Noise-Musik erinnert, unterstützen sie die Handlung perfekt.
