The Blu-Ray was developed as a high-definition successor to the DVD and offers a significantly increased data rate and storage capacity compared to its predecessor. Blu-Rays can therefore store movies with significantly better resolution and offer enormously high picture quality on corresponding screens. Blu-Ray players are usually backward compatible with DVDs, so that they can also be played.

Dichter Nebel liegt über der Bucht von San Francisco, als es 1906 zu einer Havarie kommt. Die GHOST, ein Schoner unter dem Kommando von Kapitän Larsen rettet einen Überlebenden aus der See. Anstatt den Unglücklichen an Land zu bringen, wird Humphrey dazu gezwungen, mit auf Robbenjagd zu gehen. Der brutale Kapitän, lässt nicht mit sich reden. Auf der GHOST herrscht eine Atmosphäre der Angst und des Terrors. Allmählich entwickelt sich zwischen Humphrey von Weyden und Kapitän Wolf Larsen eine Beziehung, die in vielfältigen Dialogen über fundamentale weltpolitische Ansichten ihre interessante Ausdrucksweise findet. Auf der einen Seite, der pragmatische Kapitän, auf der anderen Seite, der menschlich mitfühlende Humphrey von Weyden.
