Die junge Ordensschwester Ann glaubt fest daran, dass Exorzismen ihre wahre Berufung sind. Obwohl eigentlich traditionell nur Priestern vorbehalten, erhält Ann - gefördert durch ihren Mentor, der ihre besondere Gabe spürt - Zugang zu einer vatikanischen Exorzismus-Schule. Als ihr Ehrgeiz sie dort mit einer besonders schwierigen »Patientin« zusammenbringt, sieht sich Ann plötzlich mit einer dämonischen Kraft konfrontiert, die nicht nur die gesamte Schule heimzusuchen scheint, sondern auf mysteriöse Weise mit ihrer eigenen traumatischen Vergangenheit verbunden ist.
