The Blu-Ray was developed as a high-definition successor to the DVD and offers a significantly increased data rate and storage capacity compared to its predecessor. Blu-Rays can therefore store movies with significantly better resolution and offer enormously high picture quality on corresponding screens. Blu-Ray players are usually backward compatible with DVDs, so that they can also be played.

Im Jahre 1964 hat das junge Paar Eli und Caroline MacCleary in der Nähe einer Kleinstadt eine Autopanne. Während Eli Hilfe holt und Caroline alleine zurücklässt, wird diese von einem Unbekannten angegriffen und vergewaltigt. Sie wird daraufhin schwanger und bekommt einen Sohn.
17 Jahre später wird Michael, der Sohn der beiden, von schlimmen Alpträumen geplagt und verhält sich zunehmend psychotisch. Da Michaels Leiden genetisch bedingt sein könnte, beschließen die ratlosen Eltern in ihrer Verzweiflung zum Ort des damaligen Verbrechens zurückzukehren, um mehr über den Täter herauszufinden.
Die Einwohner des kleinen Ortes erweisen sich allerdings als nicht besonders kooperativ und Michaels Zustand wird zusehends schlechter. Und auch körperlich beginnt er sich zu verändern - mit tödlichen Folgen für die Menschen in seiner Nähe...
