The Blu-Ray was developed as a high-definition successor to the DVD and offers a significantly increased data rate and storage capacity compared to its predecessor. Blu-Rays can therefore store movies with significantly better resolution and offer enormously high picture quality on corresponding screens. Blu-Ray players are usually backward compatible with DVDs, so that they can also be played.

Die junge Wissenschaftlerin und alleinerziehende Mutter Stella kehrt nach Jahren der Abwesenheit in ihre Heimatstadt zurück. Hier wird sie eines Nachts über ein altes Radio von ihrem jahrzehntelang vermissten Vater kontaktiert, der in einer anderen Zeitkonfiguration im Weltraum gefangen ist. Um ihn zurückzuholen, muss Stella die Genesis-Maschine ausfindig machen, die im Rahmen eines streng geheimen CIA-Projekts entwickelt und in Thailand zurückgelassen worden ist, und sich damit auf eine Odyssee durch Zeit und Raum begeben.
