Der Abschuss eines alliierten Fliegers während des 2. Weltkrieges löst jede Menge Verwirrungen bei der deutschen Luftabwehr aus. Der abgeschossene amerikanische Pilot landet mit dem Fallschirm im Brunnen eines Klosters. Verkleidet als Mönch können ihn die Deutschen natürlich nicht finden, obwohl er ihnen vor der Nase herumläuft.
Der Mönch lernt bald die hübsche Tochter des Dorfwirtes kennen und siedelt in das Gasthaus ihres Vaters um, damit er seiner Angebeteten näher sein kann. Das Durcheinander ist endgültig perfekt, als auch noch ein schrulliger Raketenforscher auftaucht.
