Dicte Svendsen ist eine 40-jährige Journalistin, die nach ihrer Scheidung gemeinsam mit ihrer 17-jährigen Tochter Rose in ihre Heimatstadt Aarhus zurückkehrt. Dort arbeitet sie für die ortsansässige Zeitung „Tageblatt“ als Reporterin und berichtet über die Kriminalfälle in der Stadt. Doch sie belässt es nicht beim Schreiben, sondern ermittelt auf eigene Faust. Furchtlos, emotional und mutig bringt Dicte sich immer wieder in gefährliche Situationen und den Chefermittler John Wagner in Rage. Ihre gemeinsame Arbeit führt allerdings zu einer Aufklärungsquote von 100 Prozent. Und so wird das Duo, wenn auch zunächst widerwillig, zum Dream Team.
