Die Kalakeyas sind besiegt, Amarendra Baahubali bereitet sich auf die Rolle als künftiger König vor. Doch der Beginn seiner Herrschaft steht unter keinem guten Stern. Oberbefehlshaber Bhallaladeva will einen Keil zwischen Amarendra und Königin Mutter Sivagami treiben.
Als Amarendra sich auf einer Reise durch sein Land in die Prinzessin des Kuntala-Reichs, Devasena verliebt, sieht er seine Chance. Bhallaladeva hält selbst um Devasena Hand an. Da Sivagami nichts von der aufkeimenden Liebe zwischen Devasenas und Amarendra weiß, stimmt sie zu.
Amarendra ist bereits alles für seine große Liebe zu opfern. Doch Bhallaladevas Machtgier ist geweckt und kennt keine Grenzen.
