Japan 1590: Eine lange Zeit der Bürgerkriege geht zu Ende. Der erfolgreiche Feldherr Hideyoshi will das ganze Land unter seine Herrschaft bringen und lässt überall mächtige Heere aufmarschieren. Er schickt 20.000 Soldaten gegen die Festung Oshi des widerspenstigen Hojo-Clans. Die Bastion ist von Mooren und Seen umgeben und wird deshalb auch „Die schwimmende Festung“ genannt. Sie wird von nur 500 Samurai verteidigt, angeführt von dem exzentrischen Narita Nagachika. Doch der ist fest entschlossen, die Festung bis zum letzten Mann zu verteidigen…
